Professional Pastoral Ministers Association
PPMA Lansing, Michigan PPMA is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. And, we have accomplished our original goals. So, beginning in April of 2012, our PPMA activities will be suspended or become dormant. The word "suspended" congers up an experience of the temporary... It is possible that after the dormant period (an unknown length of time), the PPMA can experience new life again. The PPMA board has determined that the original goals created when PPMA was established have been met: 1.) Establish a network for Lay Ministers; 2.) Recognition and Promotion of Lay Ministry; 3.) Ongoing education and spiritual education; 4.) The encouragement of promotion of diocesan activities that would integrate clergy and lay ministers; 5.) A more standardized salary compensation package for Lay Ministers across the diocese or creation of personnel policies and compensation practices for Lay Ministers in the diocese. It is also our belief that the ongoing activities associated with maintaining the goals are currently being implemented by the Diocesan offices (several) that have been crated throughout the years, specifically, the Office of Lay Ministry, Office of Catechesis and the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. In 2012, we hope to see you at our PPMA Spring Event on Friday, March 2, 2012. Also, early in 2012, the Lansing Office of Lay Ministry will be sending you a questionnaire, which has been prepared in collaboration with our PPMA Board, to solicit your input into what your interests are and how to go about meeting these interests.
