ObjectivesThe seminar series has the following objectives. - To socialise with other HDR students, and to get to know each other
- To discuss research ideas or research problems encountered
- To share research experiences
- To establish research collaborations
GuidelinesThe seminar series has the following format.
- The Clayton HDR lunchtime seminar series, supported
by the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) and the
Clayton School of Information Technology (ClSIT),
is a series of weekly meetings organised by and for HDR students. They
are occasions for HDR students to meet with each other, to have lunch
together, to socialise, to share ideas, and to discuss respective research
interests.
- We, the HDR students, take turns in hosting the event of a week. The host
leads the event by presenting or discussing something they are interested in.
This could be rather informal, as, for instance, an informal talk about the
host's research, an interesting problem, an article they have seen, or problems
they are encountering. It could also be a formal presentation, for instance, a
rehearsal for a conference or a confirmation seminar.
- Every HDR student will act as the host of a seminar once in a while,
with the option to volunteer for a particular date. This website functions
as a list for this purpose. Occasionally, academic staff or a visitor will be
invited to host the event.
- The committee is responsible for coordinating the events. We welcome other HDR students to join
and to help the committee organise the series. Comments and suggestions to make
the series better suit our needs are greatly appreciated at any point in time.
