Advanced Materials & Extreme conditions

RESEARCH OVERVIEW

The research in the Lab. for Advanced Materials and Extreme conditions (AMEX) at POSTECH has focused on design, growth and characterization of advanced low-dimensional materials with emergent quantum properties under extreme conditions.

Our research goals are (i) elucidation of the underlying microscopic mechanism for exotic ground states and transport properties of low dimensional electronic systems, (ii) understanding how to design new low dimensional materials with tailored topological properties, and (iii) discovery of new types of collective or topological quantum phenomena, which can possibly utilized for electronic devices with enhanced functional properties.

These research goals can be achieved by balancing the research activities for growing high-quality single crystals, investigation their physical properties under low temperature/high magnetic fields/high pressures, and fabrication of low-dimensional crystal-based devices.
