Go to http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=116913314984386073493.000451608fab0754193a9&ll=46.679594,-62.226562&spn=59.935045,157.5&z=3 to access the "Greetings from ..." map.  You will need a Google Account to access the map and editing the map is open to the public.  I monitor the placemarks to make sure the content in appropriate and delete any unused placemarkers.

On the left side of the screen you will see the placemarkers that have already been placed on the map.  Click on a few to see the postcards and read the descriptions.

To embed your postcard, follow these directions:
  1. Choose EDIT on the side navigation pane.
  2. Search or Zoom in on your location so it is visible.  You might want to consider turning on the satellite image so you can see landforms.
  3. Select the placemarker and click on the map where you want it positioned.
  4. A window will pop up.  In the window, type the name of the location, write a description and consider adding sources for your information or images.
  5. Click on "Rich Text" for formatting features and the ability to add links.
  6. You must have the image uploaded on a website (like Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket or any site that gives your HTML embed code) if you want to embed an image in the map.
  7. To embed the image, select "Edit HTML".  Go to your photosharing website and copy the embed code and paste into the window.  For example, if you are using Flickr, the embed code might look like the text below.
  8. If you go back to "Rich Text" you should see the image in the window.  Click OK and then SAVE and DONE on the navigation pane.
  9. Yeah - your postcard is now embedded into the map!!!
