The Looters' Guild was a stain on the good name of guilds, comprised as it was by disreputable types who sought nothing more than treasure and perhaps infamy. They were a somewhat disorganised, fast-and-loose guild with membership varied and fluctuating. Its core membership was formed out of its leaders and their companions, who let just about anyone join so long as they pay the fee: either a sack full of gold, an art object or artefact looted from a ruin, or something unique (say, the head of a monster). When the hobgoblins invaded and the town's "army" allied themselves with the invaders, the Looters' Guild decided to join forces with the hobgoblins too. This turned out badly for them, as their guild was razed to the ground during the liberation and many of its members were slaughtered when rebel forces clashed with the enemy. |
