The Council of Obsidian

Obsidian was originally ruled by the collection of merchants who discovered the new world and founded Obsidian. They enforced their laws, such as they are, by manipulation as much as force, backed up by their private army funded by the wealth of the major merchant houses.
 
In the aftermath of the liberation of Obsidian, the port is now ruled over by an elected council comprised of a member of each notable faction of the town.

The Council of Seven

Seven members make up the council, most hastily elected in the crisis following the liberation. The rebel leader called Torrence acts as the current chair and has the deciding vote in the case of a tie between the six main council members.

  1. Gloria Dewbody (halfling female, member of the Halfling Liberation Guild)
  2. Voltorn Hammerfist (dwarf male, representative of the dwarves from the Forge)
  3. Tiny the Generous (human male, member of the Scales of Enterprise merchants' guild)
  4. Brosi of Barleybay (human male, representative of the sea-farers; fishermen, sailors, boatwrights etc.)
  5. Mortisa Leafblade (half-elven female, representing the common townsfolk)
  6. Red Fang (male gnoll, tribal leader of the gnolls)
It is something of an uneasy alliance at the moment, with no clear goals aside from rebuilding the port and re-opening the trade with the mainland. The gnolls are represented largely due to the their help with the liberation.
