Most of the time as I read I will try to predict what will happen in the story. For instance, as I was reading ... Another example of why I am a good reader is that I choose just right books. I know my reading level is P. This means I should choose book like these (have examples). Notice the size of the font, paragraphing, and vocabulary. As a good reader I also do other things such as identify character development throughout the story, look for the message an author may try to present, make inferences, ask questions and make connections. My reading would improve if I was to spend more time reading different genres. I get caught up in reading a lot of the same type of science fiction books. I didn't realize this until I looked at my reading log and realized I need to read a variety of materials. I should also read more outloud. Most of my reading is to myself and so I am not practicing expressing myself like I should. Some changes I would like to make in my reading are to read out loud more frequently. I would like to read more to you so if we could make a scheduled time to do that I would appreciate it. I would also like to spend more time in the library. If we could go to special events at the HK library it would be great. I know that often they advertise in the SCMP up coming events. Finally, I would like to spend time telling you more about the books I read. This will help me in my ability to summarize books better. |
