Every good act is charity. A man's true wealth hereafter is the good that he does in this world to his fellows.

The charity that is a trifle to us can be precious to others.

Donate your time, expertise or resources to help the very

poorest of the world and feel most excellent doing so.

There is nothing so pure as the feeling one gets from helping someone in dire need. Share in that feeling by helping us provide meaningful and ongoing care to the neediest people in the Western Hemisphere.

We are currently working to provide telemedicine capabilities to the medical staff in Haiti. There is an incredible need for, and a dire lack of local skilled medical staff to help these very poor and injured. Telemedicine will allow skilled and willing volunteers here in the U.S. to efficiently tend to those in need. This is an incredible enabler and has the ability to amplify many times over the efforts or our volunteers by eliminating the time and expense of international travel from their busy schedules.

We are seeking:

- Monetary support

- Pledges of volunteer time from health care professionals

- Donations of excess assets to be converted into direct relief (cars, boats, exercise equipment etc.)

November news:

Our mission has changed for the time being due to the Cholera epidemic in Haiti. Please read the following important information.

Due to the unprecedented outbreak of Cholera in Haiti, Porsches to Plowshares has teamed up with Burn Advocates Network to bring direct, immediate relief in the form or hundreds of thousands of doses of medicine to the outlying villages surrounding Cap Haitien. Our early December mission to perform due diligence on the telemedicine solution is now primarily focused on stemming this disease while it is still in its early stages in the northern part of the country. Although treatment is straight forward, the numbers are daunting and we need donations NOW to expand the scope of our mission. Please review the following videos for more information and consider a donation to help these poor unfortunate souls. Your donation is fully 501(c)(3) tax deductible and can be made by either calling or emailing me at the address to the left or making an online contribution at www.burnadvocates.org.

We are also accepting applications for physicians, nurses and physical therapists for our next mission.

Esperance et Perseverance

Haiti Cholera  Update

1 December 2010

  • Reported cases risen to just over 72,000
  • 1,817 deaths (Haiti's health ministry said Wednesday)
  • 20 to 40 deaths reported on a daily basis and between 900 and 1,100 hospitalizations every day
  • Case mortality rate now stands at 2.3 per cent (Fadela Chaib WHO)
  • Epidemic is still spreading in some places. New areas of contamination in Artibonite were reported in the commune of Saint Michel de l’Attalaye and Gros Morne (upper Artibonite), with cases in Lalomas, Platon Lalorme, Marmont and Penduis.
  • Situation in the North west continues to deteriorate, with increasing needs and still too few to manage the caseload of cholera patients. (according to Unicef)
  • In Port Au Prince the epidemic, so far, is relatively under control.
  • 40 cholera treatment centers, average 100-200 beds each
  • 61 cholera treatment units (inside hospitals and health centers) have average 20 bed capacity
  • According to Ms. Chaib (WHO) the following are required: 10 additional cholera treatment centers and 39 cholera treatments units,  350 more doctors, 2,000 nurses, 2,200 support staff and 30,000 community health workers.
  • Elisabeth Byrs, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population has identified the following challenges:  removal of the bodies of the dead, the disposal of medical waste, the identification of sites on which to set up health centers, and a lack of trained personnel.

Here is a tiny sample of what these fellow human beings are up against. Don't let the small pictures fool you. This suffering is every bit as intense and real as if it was happening to your family (and everyone you know) right now. Set in that perspective, it simply boggles the mind and serves as an urgent and ongoing call to action.

Why You Should Support Our Organization

Porsches To Plowshares was created in the Christian spirit devoted to helping others. Many of us seek fullfillment in life and a very gratifying way to attain that is through helping others. 85% of the world literally lives on less than one dollar a day. That is incomprehensible suffering. Suffering that can easily be mitigated through modest effort and investment on our part.

I can't tell you how much better I feel about my place in this world since I have embraced this project. Do as little or as much as you want and see for yourself the power of giving to put you at ease.
