CHURCH MEETINGS

WORSHIP

Services are held at 10.00am and 6.30pm unless otherwise announced in the notices. There is a valued informal atmosphere at our church though we do ask that conversations are held quietly before worship. Books used in worship include ‘The Methodist Worship Book’, ‘Hymns and Psalms’, and our own ‘Sing to the Lord’. All Age Worship and Parade services are held as planned in the church year programme. After-service refreshments are served in the hall to which you are warmly invited. A rota is provided for the organisation of these refreshments and offers of help are sought. ‘Songs of Praise’ services are held three times a year. A deaf loop system is installed in the church for persons with hearing disability to hear with the aid of a hearing aid set at the setting ‘T’. For those who have difficulty in getting to Church, transport can be arranged.

COMMUNION

Our communion services are open to ALL (of any denomination) who love our Lord in sincerity and truth. The communion stewards are responsible for making arrangements for Holy Communion services.

WORSHIP ACTION GROUP

A small group of members and young people from the Church prepare resources for worship, invite preachers for special services and respond to congregational concerns and ideas about worship in our Church.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Our Annual General Meeting is open to all but only members of the church can vote. The meeting reviews significant current aspects of church life and takes decisions on pending issues. Elections are held to appoint members of the Church Council and also to appoint new Church Stewards. Two stewards are elected at each Annual General Meeting and serve a three year term. The two stewards in their third year of office are the Senior Stewards. A young person is also sought annually to serve as a Junior Steward. Church Stewards are responsible with the Minister for the life of the church. In particular Church Stewards are responsible for the management of the Church before, during and after Church Services.

CHURCH COUNCIL

This is the executive body of the Church made up of elected members from the Annual General Meeting and from its sub committees. The Church Council is responsible for authoritative decision making in the life of the church within Methodist Church Standing Orders and within its remit from the Annual General Meeting. Certain responsibilities are delegated to committees of the Church and the exercise of these is reviewed by the Church Council. The appointments of Church officials are made including the Chairpersons and Secretaries of sub committees.

It also reviews the life of the Church in relation to the neighbourhood, undertakes preliminary planning of the Church Calendar, appoints Church Life committee representatives to the Church Council and makes recommendations on Church Life to the Church Council including nominations for Church representatives to circuit committees.
