The World Population

In March 2021 the world human population was about 8.75 billion people, and according to forecasts, it is expected that by 2050 the world population will reach 9.3 billion people. Most of the growth is in the poor and developing countries and not in the developed countries, where the trend is reversed (where population growth is negative). Accelerated growth in developing countries leads to food and water shortages, pollution of the environment, as well as poor health services. As a result, the gaps between poor and rich countries are increasing, and today there are almost a billion people in the world suffering from hunger.

Every day, about 19,000 people die of starvation around the world, most of them infants and children, and the continued increase in population is expected to lead to an increased number of starving people. The increase in the world's population leads to a dilution of natural resources such as oil and coal, as well as to the pollution of freshwater sources. A shortage of fresh water is expected to harm agriculture, which will result in reduced crops, and consequently hunger.

The increase in population density alongside the process of globalization may lead to the spread of epidemics. The accelerated growth of the world population brought with it an enhanced urbanization process and the birth of new industrialized and polluted cities. The multiplicity of factories and production causes the temperature on the earth to rise and glaciers to melt. As a result, the sea level rises and leads to the sinking and flooding of populated land areas.

According to radiometric dating estimation and other scientific methods, planet Earth has formed over 4.5 billion years ago. One billion years after that life appeared in the oceans.
