Political Theory and the Global Crisis: How political theory can contribute to understandings and solutions?

Keynote speaker: Paula Casal (ICREA, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and ASAP (Academics Stand against Poverty)

Confirmed speakers also include: Vittorio Bufacchi (UCC) and Keith Breen (QUB)

Proposals are invited for one further paper within the theme of the conference, broadly construed. Proposals from PhD students and post-docs are particularly welcome.

PSAI Annual Conference 2011

The 2011 Annual Conference is being hosted by University College Dublin

It will take place from 21 to  23 October 2011 in the Royal Irish Academy and Newman House, Dublin.

The theme for this conference will be "Political Reform in Ireland", but papers and panels on other topics are also welcome.

Those interested in arranging political theory panels are encouraged to do. either by applying the organisers directly, or by contacting one of the PSAI  Poltiical Theory Specialist Group convenors, Andrew Shorten or Iseult Honohan.

Tolerance

Invited speaker: Peter Jones (Newcastle) : Tolerance: do we still need it?

Papers will also be given by Graham Finlay (UCD) and Cillian McBride (QUB)

Proposals for one or at most two further papers from political theorists based in Ireland are invited. Please send them to Andrew Shorten or Iseult Honohan by 5 March.

This is the first annual workshop arranged by the PSAI political theory specialist group.  All interested in political theory in Ireland are welcome to participate.    It is planned to run these annually from now on to provide a forum and meeting point for political theorists in Ireland. Registration details will be posted later.   Please also send suggestions for topics and/or invited visiting speakers for future years to Andy or Iseult.
