When I received my press, it was broken in a number of places and required a fair amount of repair (11 welds total).
I found a local welder who came well recommended and crossed my fingers. He was able to get it most of it back together, and square to boot. One assembly ended up too warped for use, but it seems perhaps unnecessary. I may eventually get a replacement made out of a chunk of aluminum. It won't be so pretty, but should work fine.
After repair, I disassembled most everything and cleaned it up in a car wash, then had the cast-iron parts sand blasted and powder coated, being careful to first mask off the various machined surfaces.
Re-assembly was fairly straightforward (and much less messy than the disassembly job). It helps to make detailed notes while taking things apart. A camera would have been a smart option.
