Team Building from the Bottom-Up ~ Moderated Breakout Sessions
About the Topic In October, Ed Bye and Kim Liegel presented an introduction to leading collaborative project teams. This month, their presentation continues with breakout sessions that will engage participants in discussing strategies and tools:
Participants will gain insights to how other successful Project
Managers have mastered these crucial skills; both in understanding and
acting on key project characteristics, and leading high-performing
teams. As time permits, we will open the discussion up to
participant-generated topics, as well. Leaders Ed Bye and Kim Liegel
bring more than fifty years of combined project leadership experience on
a wide spectrum of project types, sizes, teams and organizations.
Mr. Bye is a seasoned Customer Service and IT Project Manager with over
forty years’ experience in which he has provided a unique blend of
leadership, program-management, and exemplary customer-support skills.
He is an energetic and decisive communicator who has effectively
interacted with all levels of management. As a focused team player, he
has lead high-performing teams using established best practices through
implementation, change, and improvements.
As a positive mental thinker he has stimulated creative team results with a demonstrated ability to manage large cross functional teams (360) at multiple locations (28) from planning through execution under extreme political pressure in a fast paced, time sensitive environments. He is a results-driven management professional that has successfully implemented over 55 programs and projects ranging from $250K to $35 million and has a proven track record of increasing productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. As both a contractor and full-time employee, Mr. Bye has implemented large-scale and strategic projects at the following companies: Oregon State Data Center, Corillian, Symantec, USAA, Travel Lodge, Monier Tiles, Avery Label, Apple Computer, Nestlé, Alcon Surgical, Citibank, Bank One, State Farm, Kraft Foods, and Microsoft, Santa Fe Pacific.
Kim Liegel, PMP, is a Eugene small business owner providing project
management professional services and education through her company,
Liegel Enterprises, LLC. Her current work includes project management
services for Lane County Public Works, and is an adjunct instructor
through LCC for the Small Business Development Center providing Project
Management and MS Project course offerings. Her career experience includes more than nineteen years of hands-on project, program, and PMO management at organizations including Garage Games (Instant Action), Lane County IS, Symantec, HNC Technology (Fair Isaac), Oracle, Mitchell Repair Information Company (Snap-on Tools), and Nike. Ms. Liegel has authored books and whitepapers related to teaching project management fundamentals to middle and high school students to better prepare them for the many school and life projects they face. This includes international presentations at the PMI North America Congress in 2004 and 2007. Ed Bye and Kim Liegel, PMP
