Northampton Business School is creating and validating both a BA (Hons) Social Enterprise Development and a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Enterprise Management with an intended start date of September 2009. We will be aiming these qualifications at both the UK national and international market, including (of course) China. Both awards will include case studies developed by CUEB as part of this project. It is intended that CUEB staff will visit Northampton to tutor on modules on both programmes.
The programmes will be designed to significantly improve the standard of management in existing social enterprises and enable would-be entrepreneurs to take the social enterprise route to both commissioning and delivery of services. It is anticipated that there will be a strong, and increasing, market in both the health and education sectors for these programmes.
Both Universities will create and deliver practitioner workshops. These will normally be non-accredited but, as part of the skills agenda, those delegates who wish to accredit their learning will be able to do so.
CUEB will initially offer the University of Northampton awards in social enterprise as a pilot scheme.
The CEEG centre at Northampton Business School will build on its already excellent relationship with the East Midlands Development Agency and share information/research results as appropriate. Through our local RDA we will seek to influence national policy and funding directed at social enterprise employment, development and creation.
