What Is a Purple Monkey Dishwasher?

Purple Monkey Dishwasher is:
Dave Jacks                                 Zoe
Mark Gessner                           David Irons

Dave Jacks
Dave Jacks is an up and coming actor/sketch comic living in New York City. Recently Verizon wireless got a taste of Dave and booked him for a national TV ad and print campaign. Heineken Light cast him as the lead in their new short film Sam's Tail, which is being shown at film festivals around the world and the IFC channel. Watch it online at Promotion Pictures

Dave has also appeared in numerous commercials including State Farm Insurance, Old Navy and a promo for the History Channel's new show "Lost Worlds." In February of 06 he produced and starred in the play "The Ends of the Earth" at the Sanford Misener Theater and the reviews were glowing. David has appeared in numerous plays throughout NYC.

David has studied sketch comedy and improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade while honing his acting craft at the Terry Schreber Studio and now the MTB studio.

Mark Gessner
Born in Vermont in 1980, Mark Gessner grew up in a small town.  He performed in many children’s theater productions growing up and wrote and performed his first stand-up routine at the age of 11.

His first foray into sketch came in high school and it went quite well and clearly fellow classmates and noted jocks Brian and Nate were wrong and he is not a tool at all; on the contrary.  Also they are balding and still living in Vermont so hahaha. Improv and acting at Marymount Manhattan College and training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater came next.

Mark currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and two cats and eagerly awaits the birth of his first child.  When he is not absolutely tearing it up hilarity-wise with Purple Monkey Dishwasher you can find him doing improv with his group Big Tobacco and doing stand-up around the country.  He is pretty much of the opinion that the Yankees are poised to make another dynastic run but he understands if you do not agree.

Zoe
Don't you love it when your back cracks?  So does Zoe.  She is a female hailing from St. Louis, MO.  Zoe attended Wesleyan University where her comedy education really began as she performed in stand-up and improv shows on campus.  After moving to NYC she has taken classes at UCB Theatre and performed with improv groups including ComedySportz New York and The Hebrew School Drop-Outs, and sketch groups The Striking Viking Story Pirates and Purple Monkey Dishwasher.  Zoe is also a dancer with keila cordova dances and writes and improvises songs wither her musical outfit, THE FUZ.  Also she loves doggies!!!   www.zoeisagirl.com

David Irons
When David Irons was a young child growing-up in North Carolina his scientist father decided that every family should have a pet so he brought home a Bengal tiger. This was just the start of what would prove to be many odd encounters with wild animals, culminating at age 8 when young Dave was knocked out by a binturong (a tree dwelling animal related to the mongoose).

Skip forward a few years and David found himself in New York City where he studied comedy writing with Ian Roberts at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade and Ali Farahnakian at the The People’s Improve Theater. Dave was one of the founding members of the now retired sketch comedy group Donkey Corleone and went on to help start Purple Monkey Dishwasher for which he now serves as  head writer.

When he’s not writing for Purple Monkey Dishwasher, Dave Irons can be found working for the ‘Man’ (and by ‘Man’ we mean the marketing industry). Some of his past work includes being pledge master for Old School The Movie’s online fraternity, developing the content for the Be Like Bond site which supported Norelco’s sponsorship of Die Another Day and helping build a website for a pharmaceutical product that was later found to give spider monkeys cancer.

His love/hate relationship with arboreal mammals has been exacerbated by his now perpetual fear of vengeful spider monkeys.
