Personal Life Goals:

 

My short-term goal is to graduate from high school with highest honors and continue my educational at the college of my choice. Long-term goal is to major in Public Health with a minor in Chemistry on ward to graduated school to pursue a Masters degree in Public Health.  My career ambition is to work in the public health field and to travel the world improving the quality of health for mankind.

Volunteer Experience

 June 2006 – Current: Volunteer for One World Market, Durham, NC. One world market is a non-profit store devoted exclusively to the mission of   Fair Trade. One World Market has helped improve the lives of thousands of hard working families in the world’s poorest countries. My responsibilities include but are not limited to customer service, cashing, unpacking and stocking merchandise. 

 

June 2007- August 2007: Duke University Hospital Junior Volunteer Program - Durham Community Health Network, Durham, NC. Durham Community Health Network (DCHN) is a community-based managed care program for Durham Carolina Access II enrollees funded by the State of North Carolina. A network of agencies and providers, who serve the Medicaid population, governs DCHN including: primary care clinics, local hospitals, and the Durham Departments of Social Services and Health. The Duke Division of Community Health administers the program. DCHN helps primary care practices improve the quality of care that Carolina Access patients receive by removing barriers to healthcare access, helping patients better understand their healthcare conditions and responsibilities, sharing best practices. The case management team includes clinical personnel, social workers and community/lay health workers. My responsibilities were to work with the Diabetes Specialist to create documents on healthy living. Administrative work consisted of making copies, organizing creating and designing community posters and flyers for special events. Updating mailing list and patient information in the database. Additional responsibilities attended classes on healthy living and assist the Diabetes Specialist with home visits. 

 

September 2004- November 2004: Campaign Volunteer for The Judge Wynn Committee for NC Supreme Court, Raleigh, NC. My responsibilities were to handout campaign flyers; make copies on the copier, and general office work.

 

Summer 2004 – The Summer Reading Club – Southwest Branch Durham Co. Public Library, Durham, NC: My responsibilities as a volunteer were to signed up participants and keep track of the required number of books the participants had read for the summer. Once the participants read the require number of books they were eligible for weekly awards and prizes for reading, which I was responsible for making sure the participants received once the requirement was met.  An additional responsibility was to assist the Liberians with shelving returned books in their designated place.  


Fall 2000-
Actress- Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters- Carolina Theatre, Durham, NC
  Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe is an African folklore story similarly to the Cinderella story. My part as an actress was the child massager for the Prince.
