Dear youth and parents:
We are once again looking forward to staring up another exciting year of youth activities here at PV Mennonite Church. Earlier this summer the sponsors spent a weekend preparing ourselves for the year ahead and planning a whole host of lessons and activities for both the JYF and High School MYF youth. Besides fun nights, fundraisers, and other fun activties we are planning a wide range of Biblical study topics including the parables of Jesus, the Beatitudes, respect, sexuality, thankfulness, the birth of Jesus, how we use money, the fruits of the spirit, the Easter story, footwashing, stories from the Old Testament, Christian service of others, and the list goes on.
This year, we will not only be serving a meal for our youth but we also inviting adults from the church to begin to build some relationships with the youth. After the meal we will have a time of joint singing in the sanctuary. Then we will break up into the Jr. High group (6th--8th grades) and the High School group (9th--12th grades) for a time or exploring God's message for our world and how we became a part of it.
As we head into a new year the leaders worked at creating a vision statement for where we want our youth group to go. For this year, we have said that:
Our purpose is to become a group
who know, follows, and shares Jesus Christ
and who loves, respects, and listens,
to God, others, and ourselves
As we work at bringing this vision into reality, we know that the people who ultimately have the greatest influence over the life of a child are the parents. We value our relationship with you, as parents. We want to make sure that we not only build up our relationship with the youth, but also with the parents. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in contact with any one of us. Blessing to you all as we begin this new year.
