Help stock our Mission Mart
Outreach Ministry is trying to help stock the local Mission Mart with food for the holiday. Every week we would like the congregation to help us by bringing items from the list below:
. Dec. 6– spaghetti sauce, canned meats, peanut butter, jelly, etc.
There are containers in the foyer to place your items in.
Deuteronomy 26:5-10 "My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous. But the Egyptians mistreated us and made us suffer, putting us to hard labor. Then we cried out to the LORD, the God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression. So the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with miraculous signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, O LORD, have given me."
President Obama is taking counsel on whether to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan . Our Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective says, “Led by the Spirit, and beginning in the church, we witness to all people that violence is not the will of God. We witness against all forms of violence, including war among nations, hostility among races and classes, abuse of children and women, violence between men and women, abortion, and capital punishment.” There are several copies of a handout in the foyer which explains why Mennonites believe troops do not bring security.
