Osaifu-Keitai Guide

A quick and easy guide on using your phone's FeliCa chip

What is an Osaifu-Keitai?

Translated literally, it means "wallet phone". Practically, it's a mobile phone with a built-in FeliCa contactless smartcard. What this means is that it can replace much of what is already in your wallet - train tickets, credit cards, flyers... pretty much anything!

How do I use it?

The hardest step is setting it up for the first time. Every application has a different method. However, actually using it is the same. Simply place your mobile phone on the sensor, and the job is done.

Why do I need one?

For sheer simplicity. It saves you having to find the correct change for vending machines and ticket machines. It saves you from forgetting your plane and cinema tickets at home. It lets you pay for things without showing anyone your credit card. And since you don't have to insert it anywhere or give it to anyone, it never leaves your sight. Even if you lose it, you can have your phone lock itself completely, stopping anyone else from using it.

Plus, it's just cool!
