GBM: Wed, 11 October 2006, 8pm, Bend. 426
- We had Antoon's- yay!! There were also 3 new people there... another yay.
- Rocky Horror: we're going to help out ESC with this on Sat. the 28th and Mon. the 30th, both at midnight. They'll need help beforehand with prep, and the nights of.
- Fundraising: we were going to sell shot glasses for Halloween (or in general), but to order an appropriate number they would be too expensive, so the idea was scrapped. Other suggestions included Tshirts, Campus Fundraiser events, and working at a haunted house or Cedar Point.
- Jobraising: Another school (Nebraska?) had a dinner for prospective employers. However, this would be expensive and would need to be arranged quickly. A possible contact for jobs is the Pittsburgh chapters of the professional engineering socieities. For example, ASME is having a joint student-professional dinner on 25 October, so at least I (and maybe Eric too.. how bout it?) will be there. This provides contacts in local industry, so if Eric and/or Laura could help me out with how to approach them, that'd be great.
- Mike then discusses national memberships and internship applications, and we answered questions from the people who actually showed up. Then we left. With lots of leftover pizza.
Dean's Council, Friday the 13th, 12:00
- US Steel will give a short presentation at the December mtg (the 8th)
- Joint Networking Event: 13 Nov. 6:00pm. run by NSBE, SWE, SHPE, and ESC. If we're interested in helping with the organization, contact
programs_pittnsbe@yahoo.com.
- Kaleigh talked about Rocky Horror, but we're already on the in with that one...
- Kickball Tourny: Sat. 18 November at noon. intended to be a competition between departments/organizations. $1 per person registration fee, prize for winner. Sign up on ESC door or by email (kmm64@pitt.edu)
- Benedum space/renovations: Dean Holder passed around a booklet on drawings of the future Benedum Hall- it looked pretty good. They're going to build an atrium over most of the patio. We discussed ideas for improvements of everything from Einstein's to the elevators to office space to computer labs, and he took notes on our input to take to the architects since things are essentially still in the planning stages.
- Next meeting 10 November, noon
