| While we all have a soft spot for it, French and Francophone cinema includes many great films besides Amelie. Here for you is a very limited inventory of some Francophone films. We have listed the films we plan on showing this fall, but if you are interested beyond what we have chosen, provided here are summaries of about 20 Francophone movies. This is by no means an authoritative or comprehensive source, but we hope that it will give you a place to start in exploring the wonderful world of French-language film. These descriptions use a very little French vocabulary. Don't worry, the actual summaries are in English. But here are a few easy definitions to help you: année--year the film was released in France, Canada, etc. réalisateur--the director acteurs--the actors voix--voices, for those films that are animated and don't have conventional actors but voice talents mots clés--keywords, to help you know more about the general character of a movie résumé--a brief summary of the movie |
