First thing’s first: if you’re seeing squares instead of Coptic text then this page should help.

The name of this site is ⲡⲓⲥⲁϧⲟ, which means the Great Scribe. It is a site for the study of the Coptic language, which has only recently been set up - so it's still a work in progress. So far, there is a page of internet links to Coptic language resources and a bibliography of Coptic studies. There is also a page for interesting articles on the Coptic language, some written in Coptic. The site also has a section called ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲛ̀ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲛ̀ⲭⲏⲙⲓ (Coptic Language Zone), in which Coptic will be the only medium for communication and a ⲡⲣⲁⲛϣ (House of Life) in which transcribed books and documents will be archived.

Over time, the intention is that more features will be added and others improved upon. Eventually, original studies in the Coptic language and other topics related to Egypt will be published here. Until then, please check the site every now and then to see what’s new.
