Having served as a police officer for over 30 years, I am acutely aware of how policing has evolved in that period.
Here in the West Midlands, crime has fallen, each neighbourhood in every town and city has an identifiable team of dedicated officers, people are feeling safer and West Midlands Police is now nationally regarded as one of the best places for lesbian and gay people to work.
These achievements, and many more, would not have been possible were it not for our willingness to listen and learn.
Instrumental in this process was, and remains, Pink Shield.
The group’s relentless desire to ensure the safety of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities of the region is commendable.
West Midlands Police are proud to be working with Pink Shield to and I personally welcome you to this website.
