Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache anywhere in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache's format, content, personality and location online. Anyone with a GPS device can then try to locate the geocache. Educational Geocaching involves students in seeking information that will help them to solve the mystery of where a geocache is located and what to do with the treasures they find.
The Discovery Education Star Educators will lead you through the steps necessary to understand how to
•    Find geocaches
•    Make your own cache
•    Construct a standards-based activity that will engage your students

The Tucson Discovery Educator Network STARs will showcase resources available through IDEAL and Discovery Streaming to connect the geocaching activity to content relevant to Arizona student achievement.
The fun comes in when students apply what they learn while seeking out caches to constructing their own caching activity. Imagine your students working together to synthesize information from multiple resources, especially visual and auditory resources available through Discovery Streaming, and apply what they have learned for the creation of an engaging mystery.
Materials and lesson plans for use at your school will be shared.
