The club has made its home in Colorado Springs for over 50 years and is affiliated with the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is also a member of the National Retriever Club, National Amateur Retriever Club, and the Master National Retriever Club.

The club hosts several events throughout the year including:

• A January Awards Banquet (honoring members and dogs)
• Training sessions simulating competitions and helping new retriever owners with training
• April Singles Marathon
• A June licensed AKC Hunt Test
• A July licensed AKC Field Trial
