Pierre Lénert, Viola Biographie Born in 1966, Pierre Lénert started practising the violin with his
father Jean Lénert. At the age of sixteen, he entered the CNSM in Paris
to attend violin and viola classes. He then worked with Kim Kashkashian
and Hatto Beyerle. Numerous international prizes crowned his young career. He was the
first French soloist to be a laureate of the International Viola
Competition of Markneukirchen. He also was a laureate of the Maurice
Vieux International Competition, of the Lionel Tertis International
Competition and the “Festival d’Automne” competition of young
interprets.
He was then backed by the Phipp Morris Foundation for his fist major
recital at the Salle Gaveau in Paris. Thanks to the Menuhin Foundation
he performed Harold in Italy by Hector Berlioz and the concerto by Belà
Bartok under the direction of Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
Since then, Pierre Lénert has been invited by illustrious conductors
(James Conlon, Myung Wung Chung, Armin Jordan, Fréderic Chaslin, Edmond
Colomer, Ronald Zollmann, Philipp de Chalendar, Jacques Mercier…) to
play as a soloist with the most famous orchestras (Opéra National de
Paris, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Chamber Orchestra,
Orchestre National d’Ile de France) and he performed with famous
soloists (Augustin Dumay, Xavier Philipps).
In September 2007, backed by Mrs Irina Shostakovitch and the “Classique
au Vert Festival”, Pierre Lénert performed for the first time in France
the concerto for cello by Dimitri Chostakovitch transcribed by Yuri
Tkanov with the Orchestre National de Lorraine under the direction of
Jacques Mercier. With the same partners, he played as a soloist in
Metz, Epinal, Hombourg-Haut and Sarrebrück performing the concerto by
Bartok and Harold in Italy by Berlioz.
in the most beautiful
concert halls in Paris (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Théâtre du
Châtelet, Palais Garnier…). For the labels Syrius, Saphir and Integral, Pierre Lénert and Jeff Cohen have recorded recitals that all won to acclaim of musical rewiews, in particular the first recording of the complete works by Henry Vieuxtemps. Pierre Lénert has recently recorded with Cédric Tiberghien works by Enesco, Francaix and Milhaud.
An opera lover, at the age of twenty he became “super soloist” of the “Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris” and he has performed solo since then. The music of this century occupies a large place in Pierre Lénert’s activities. Quite a number of musicians have dedicated their music to him. He has created works by Ian Wilson (Red over Black, BBC), Graziane Finzi (Ainsi la vie), Marc Bleuse (Bairro Alto), Antoine Duhamel (The Lamento Mémoire, concerto for viola), Edison Denisov (concerto for two violas), Stéphane Wiener, Thierry Pécou…
Pierre Lénert has been the artistic director of the “Sérénade” chamber Music Festival in Surgères since 2005.
