INVITE RESULTS AND NEWS

posted Mar 19, 2012 8:53 AM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country

Three PHS athletes competed in the Dublin distance Fiesta on Saturday 3/17 with excellent results. Both Corey Alt and Levi Yoder produced PR's in the 1600. Corey had a second place finish in his heat in 5:16.88 and Levi won his heat with a time of 5:11.22.
Julian Frost raced his first 3200 of the season with a respectable showing in a very fast heat finishing in 10:00.22. We expect the times to continue to drop for these athletes under the tutelage of coaches Christine Chapon and Tom Phelps.
We have Marshall Wentworth, Loren Remer, Nikka Piterman and Julian Frost signed up for the Stanford Invite. This is one of the top HS invites in California and only the top 20 athletes are accepted in each event. Hopefully all four will get to compete.
There is still another week to sign up for the Oakland Relays to be held at Cal on 3/31. There will be competitions in every event including some relays with unlimited entries. I would encourage several of you to do this invite.

NEW PRACTICE SCHEDULE

posted Mar 15, 2012 8:55 AM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country   [ updated Mar 15, 2012 8:56 AM ]

There will not be practice on Friday, 3/16. Friday team practices will no longer be held however some event groups will continue to train. If your event coach would like to have  Friday practice(s) they will schedule accordingly and you will be responsible for attending.

UPCOMING INVITES

posted Mar 15, 2012 8:50 AM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country

Registration for Stanford is now closed and they will not be accepting any more entries. I apologize for this thinking that we had until midnight on Wednesday to enter athletes. As it turns out 5PM was the cutoff time.
We are still registering for the Oakland Relays to be held at UC Berkeley on the 31st. This is a very well run invite that attracts good talent. Please let your event coach or myself know ASAP if you would like to compete and I will sign you up.

HOODIE / SWEAT PANT PURCHASE and UNIFORMS

posted Feb 24, 2012 8:09 AM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country

First, thank you to parent Michael Mabry for the design and Transports for working with us to purchase team hoodies and sweat pants. An ordering form is being circulated and each athlete who is interested in making this purchase needs to have a check payable to Chris Smith submitted with the form by Friday, March 9. The athletes will be able to keep these items.
Uniforms (singlet and shorts) will be issued prior to the first competition. Each athlete will be required to return the issued uniform at the end of the season or when they separate from the team. Unreturned uniforms will be treated like unreturned library books. The athlete will not be issued second semester grades or be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies unless the uniform is returned or a reimbursement of $40 is made to Piedmont Athletics.

INVITATIONALS

posted Feb 23, 2012 6:48 PM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country   [ updated Feb 24, 2012 7:56 AM ]

There several invitational opportunities this season and we hope that many athletes choose to participate in one or more of these events. Travel will be provided individually and invitationals are optional for the athletes. The high school forbids students driving other students to sports events however they may be driven by a parent or parent carpool. Information about each invite meet schedule will be provided to those who choose to enter so they can plan their arrival time.

Tomorrows Meet at Acalanes (A note from the Acalanes Coach)

posted Apr 29, 2010 8:16 PM by Piedmont High Track and X-Country   [ updated Apr 29, 2010 8:20 PM ]

To those who have questions, please check Here for meet information.

Attached is a meet entry list, and following is some information regarding

tomorrows meet.  Good Night and Good Luck Highlanders!!!

Thank you for your entries.   We have 33 teams and almost 1200 athletes involved.  I am going to set up a second high pad, so we will begin with the boys frosh soph in the south pit and the girls frosh soph in the north pit (by pole vault).

We will also have two pits for the long and triple.   The frosh soph girls will be in the pit next to the shot ring and the boys on the south pit by the score board.  We will run frosh soph long jump followed by varsity.  Due to the number of jumpers, we are going to limit the jumps to three each.  We will also put t time limit per division with the frosh soph starting at 2:30 and ending at 3:45.  Varsity begining at 4:15 and completing at 5:30.  The triple jump begins at 6 with frosh soph and ending at 7:15 with the varsity begining at 7:45 and endng at 9:00.  You will notice I have allowed a half hour between divisions for warm ups.  The times I gave you are the acutal starting time of the event.

All field events begin at 2:30, with warm ups beginning at 2:00.  Athletes check in at the event.

The warm up area is next to the baseball field, but athletes may continue their warm ups in the infield prior to their event.  If an athlete wants to check in on their way to the warm up area they may, but they must be at the bull pin area at third call.  Athletes are not to go straight to the start line.  The first running event is 2:00.  We actually want them on the track 5 minutes prior for instructions and the gun goes off at 2:00 exactly, so ask  your athletes warm accordingly.

Coachs as well as athletes will be allowed on the infield.  All athletes must have wrist bands to be on the field.  We want to keep spectators off the infield.  If your athlete is not warming up on the infield, please keep them in the stands.  Hurdles will be placed on the infield for warm ups.

We are still in school when the meet begins and there is AP testing is going on, please keep your athletes at the track.  Bathrooms will be open in the snack shack, and the big gym.  There is construction work going on behind the main stands, please keep your athletes away from the construction area.  They will still be working when the meet begins, but will fence the area when they leave.

This meet is for your and your athletes and we want it to be a positive experience.  Any questions please call.

The heat sheets will be completed later today, and I will email you a copy of those sheets.

John
