The Pieces of Eight are all members of the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly known as SPEBSQSA). The quartet was formed at the Calgary International Barbershop convention in July,1993. All four of us have been members of Evergreen District championship quartets or choruses. The quartet made its first public appearances on the Northwest Sound tour of Great Britain in 1994 using the name "Foreign Affair". In 1995 the quartet officially registered with the Society as "The Fun Quartet" and sang under that name until 1997, when Bill had the inspiration that resulted in the current name.
