"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught." — Oscar Wilde. I couldn't agree more with what what's said above. It really is true that the most important things in life are self-taught. Take for instance,Classical Mechanics.Something I've been trying to learn for a long time.I tried various books, tried asking various people for a bit of help, all to no avail. All the books I tried either dealt with the subject at a very superficial level or went way above my head. Then one day,I found this wonderful book ,"An Introduction to Mechanics"by Daniel Kleppner and Robert Kolenkow.
This book presented the topics at just the right level.I found that I could learn a lot from this one book alone,if only I could work my way through all the exercise problems. I was hooked. But there was a slight problem with ,er.....the problems.None of them were provided with, well, forget solutions, not even answers .It can be pretty frustrating when you've tried to solve a problem for days, and you're still mystified about it.There isn't a solutions manual available either. To make sure I didn't go insane,I searched online extensively and found that quite a few top universities use this text for their introductory mechanics courses and they post solutions to assignments, based on problems in the text. In addition ,each of these course webpages contain additional resources like lecture notes and exams and they're really useful. There a very few problems to which I haven't been able to find the solution. This text is also useful for IIT-JEE or JAM exams (if you're in India). It's what I used heavily when preparing for JAM after B.Sc. Feel free to contact me about this website. My e-mail address is
