Graduate stories

In the Summer of 2007, one of our final year MPhys students undertook a a summer vacation project to try to elucidate what some of our recent graduates thought were the attributes that they took away from their degree. It produced a rich and varied illustration of ways in which specific graduate attributes were fostered and developed during the degree programme.

Much effort is invested in trying to understand and enhance graduate attributes from the academic perspective; what we think will better enhance the way we link research and teaching in undergraduate curricula to achieve enhanced graduate attributes. But what about the perspective of graduates themselves? Whilst feedback is often sought on course-specific issues, it is less common to obtain detailed information at a whole programme level, or about specific skills and attributes taken away from a degree.

In the summer of 2007, we undertook a survey of Physics graduates from the University of Edinburgh to distil their views about the most important attributes that they took away from their University degree.

You can link to the original survey here, or download a pdf anonresp.pdf of responses to each of the questions.
