Welcome to the website of the 2010 Italian workshop on
phylogenetic methods and applications. The workshop will take place
from August 27-September 1 in Abbiategrasso (near Milan, Italy) at the CENTRO CONGRESSI ANNUNCIATA.
The
workshop will introduce participants to some of the main methods of
phylogenetic inference (maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood and
bayesian methods), the use of phylogenetic trees in comparative studies
(timetrees, historical biogeography, analyses of diversification rates,
character evolution), and some of the main computer programs currently
available.
The workshop will see lectures
and software demonstrations by several leading phylogeneticists, and is
open to everybody with an interest in phylogenetics and comparative
biology. Some previous experience with phylogenetic methods is helpful, but not necessary.
The workshop registration fee is 175 euros for students/postdocs and 250 euros for senior scientists and includes annual membership to the Italian Society for Evolutionary
Biology, one of the sponsors of the workshop
Enrollment in the workshop will be limited to 25 participants, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
A limited number of single rooms (with private bathroom) are available at the conference center and have been reserved for workshop participants. The rooms can be booked at the time of payment of the workshop fee at a cost of 15 euros/night.
