About The Teacher

Hello. I am Sue Uden and I have taught at Parker High School since 1982, 
which makes me old!!  I moved to Parker from Michigan where I grew up and 
went to college.  I have a BA from Hope College and received my MA from 
Northern Arizona University in Reading and Learning Disabilities.  I have 
been married to my husband, Kevin, whom I met in Parker for over 20 years 
and we have 2 sons who have graduated from PHS, Matt and Nick.  

Matt is a recent graduate of U. of A. and is currently teaching and coaching 
at Flowing Wells Jr. High in Tucson, AZ. Nick is attending Humboldt State 
University in northern California. 

I enjoy teaching the reading classes since I love to read.  It is a 
challenge 
because many of the students I see daily, do not have a love of reading.  We 
work together to get their reading skills on track which usually only takes 
a 
short amount of time once they read every day.  Our ultimate goal is to have 
success on the AIMS reading test but I would love it if they would leave my 
class wanting to read for pleasure and not because a teacher assigned the 
reading.

To pass the AIMS reading test but also to find enjoyment and pleasure in 
reading.
