Eligibility Criteria:

Two(2) scholarship awards will be granted annually to graduating high school seniors. Awards are for one year of academic study in a vocational-trade school, or an undergraduate study in an accredited college or university (fall semester). All applicants must be U.S. citizens and sponsored by a parent or legal guardian who has been a member of the Philadelphia Emerald Society for at least three years prior to application. Eligibility criteria will be based on academic record, leadership responsibilities in both community & school activities, a clearly written statement (essay) of academic & career goals, & possess a GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 or higher. Please include all after school activities, including sports and any other activities that show a positive impact on their school and community. All previous scholarship award recipients are ineligible.

Application Criteria:

A current official high school transcript of grades, signed by the applicants guidance counselor or school administrator must accompany all scholarship applications. The current transcript copy must accompany the written statement (essay) of academic & career goals. All applications must be postmarked no later than June 1st for consideration and must have a self addressed, stamped envelope.

Additional Information:

The scholarship award may be used toward the student's tuition, books, personal computer, or on-campus room & board. The scholarship must be used within twelve (12) months of the date the winners are notified. Awards will be made at our annual banque in October. Proof of registration in a vocational-trade school or accredited college is mandatory before any award is to be paid.
