FEBRUARY 2012 Dear Members:
The Philadelphia Emerald Society, one of the largest American-Irish organizations in the city of Philadelphia, is getting ready to celebrate our "Irish Heritage" once again! The party starts on Friday, March 9th, 2012 at 7pm with our St. Pat's Beef & Beer. After much consideration, the Board of Directors has decided NOT to increase the price of the tickets in light of the current economic struggles we are all dealing with. Tickets are $15 per person (with Membership Card) in advance, $20 at the door. Your ticket entitles you to great food, beer, wine and soda ($1 mixed drinks) and the craziest DJ to get the party started. Parade day is Sunday, March 11th, 2012 and we are asking all our members to come out and be a part of this celebration. Last year we were lucky if we had 60 people in our group. Considering that we have 1,300 members this is an absolute disgrace! We need you to become "active" in all our events, or we may be forced to forgo the Christmas and St. Patrick's parties due to poor attendance. Seriously, where can you go for a night of food, fun and drinks and only spend $15..and then return on Sunday for the post-parade party? Transportation to and from the parade will be provided and upon returning to the FOP, Jim Mulholland is back to entertain the kids both young and old. Please keep in mind the dress code that the Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee has asked everyone to adhere to: khaki pants and your Emerald Society jackets are what all marchers are expected to wear for the parade. The bus departure times will be announced at the Beef & Beer and will also be posted on here on our website in the Events section. We look forward to seeing you on Friday, March 9th at the FOP Hall, 1336 Spring Garden Street.
NOTE: For those members who are not payroll deduction, please send in your 2012 membership dues to our P.O. Box 2430, Philadelphia, PA, 19147. You may also renew at the door on the night of the Beef & Beer, and new members may join at that time as well. (More information and a membership enrollment form for new members is available here at the website.) | ![]() HARRY J. MARNIE PRESIDENT |
