Class of 1970 55th Reunion
The Class of 1970 gathered on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at The Drying Shed in San José for another memorable celebration near our old neighborhood.
Classmates enjoyed a relaxed buffet dinner, plenty of conversation and hugs, and a night filled with reconnection, laughter, and music (John Adair and Mark Ferrara). The usual suspects returned — and a number of classmates made trips from far away to join us. We were also thrilled to welcome back our favorite Football Coach, counselor and biology teacher, Dave Eddy, aka Mr. Eddy, whose presence brought back a flood of memories, and smiles. It was especially fun to see Ron and Ruth Cross again; the last reunion they attended was in 1990! See the full list of who came to the "Pirate Party" here.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed so kindly to help make the reunion more affordable, with extra-special appreciation to Mike and Linda Kierstead for their extraordinary generosity and support. A special thanks goes to Mona DeVlaminck, who, through her generous support, made it possible to have a professional photographer capture the evening.
A light-hearted 1970 Trivia Game led by Diane (Fernandes) Dunn, complete with treasure chests filled with pirate booty and other fun surprises, kept the evening lively, and proved to be one of the night’s highlights — even though only a few classmates still remembered which song topped the charts or what a loaf of bread cost back then. And, of course, Bob and Debbie (Baptista) Revell won the longest-married award. Wanda Klor, who came all the way from Mexico City, claimed the “farthest-traveled Pirate” prize!
The Memory Table, beautifully curated by Loretta (Essenmacher) Jaramillo, featured familiar yearbook faces — a cherished tradition that always draws smiles and stories. A new “What We’re Doing Now” photo display (on custom-crafted easels) invited classmates to share glimpses of life today, adding a personal touch to the celebration. There was even a pirate ship backdrop for photos to be taken "aboard."
And, of course, a huge thank-you to our Reunion Committee — Diane (Fernandes) Dunn, Andrea Michels, and John Adair — for organizing another successful event that keeps our class connected. And thank you to all the helpers who came early to set up and stayed late to pack up.
