F@H WUdget 1.1.4 - Release

posted Oct 16, 2009 5:38 PM by Peter Walsh   [ updated Nov 1, 2009 6:41 PM ]
This is the release version 1.1.4. It contains various enhancements, some new fields and several minor bug fixes. If you're upgrading from 1.0 you should see many improvements when retrieving folding@home site information.

New fields:
  • Pref Date: Preferred Date. This is when Folding@home would prefer to have the work unit finished and uploaded. This may or may not differ from your Due date, which is the latest date your work unit is to be finished. Some big and advanced users will receive bonus points for beating or meeting the preferred date.
  • Folding Speed: This is the rate at which your computer is folding the protein compared to due time average.
  • Sz: Size of your core in Mega Bytes.
  • The project number now links to the folding@home project page. It has rather limited information, but cool nonetheless. If you have a better suggestion or know of a website that has more detailed information, please share.
Removed Fields:
  • Flops as been removed as you get all the information you need with mega flops.
Enhancements:
  • New work unit and score increase amounts. Next to WU and Score you will see how much you increased from your previous check, if you increased at all.
  • User Rank overall and within team now have the amount and arrow in red and green to correspond to when you've gone up in rank, green, and when you've gone down in rank, red.
  • Transitions from work unit to work unit now have more detailed and accurate information. It will now tell you when a unit has been deleted, error, ready for upload, uploading or finished.
  • Several code enhancements.
  • The computer update interval, when you leave dashboard open, will now update every 20 seconds. Can be fun when you watch the transitions, if you wan to geek out that much. D'oh!
Bug Fixes:
  • Several display field fixes.  All fields should display some information. If certain fields are not available you will either have a 0 or N/A.
Unfixable Issues:
  • Previous version of F@HWUdget showed which protein you were working on. This information was present within the logs of the folding client before core 6.24 and later, but is no longer present in the logs and can't be found using qdtools. This is unfortunate, but minor bummer. A request to the developers at folding@home could change this as it's probably just an oversight.
