Group Counseling

       Support Groups

Students recommended by teachers, counselors,
and/or administration are invited to join either a boy
or girl support group.  Most groups meet at lunchtime,
once a week to discuss school, social, and emotional concerns.

          Grief Groups

Students who have lost family members
(parents, grandparents, siblings, etc)
are invited to participate in a 3 month long grief
group that meets one morning a week for 40 minutes.

Guidance Class

            6th Grade

Each nine weeks during Dare/Tech class, the 6th grade counselor presents information on dealing with adults, cliques, and boundaries.  In the spring, during one period of language arts, students explore careers.

          7th Grade

Each nine weeks during Health class, the 7th grade counselor presents information on stress management, eating disorders, and depression/suicide.  In the spring, during one period of language arts, students learn about and register for Edison classes.

Peer Mediation

Students, teachers, counselors, principals, and other staff can refer students to peer mediation in order to effectively resolve
student  conflicts without disciplinary consequences.  After a referral has been made, a counselor pairs up a team of mediators to
resolve the conflict.  All mediations are private and confidential.  Forms for peer mediation are available in the office.

Pfeiffer Peer Protection

Each nine weeks, a bully survey is administered to students to complete where they are able to identify students who are bullying others and their victims.  Administration meets with students who are listed five or more times as bullies and counselors meet with victims who are listed five or more times.
