Welcome,

I am a Senior Research Scientist at Apple, Inc. Special Projects Group (SPG).
I have been focusing on the development of planning algorithms.

Prior to that, I enjoyed my time as a Research Scientist at Amazon Robotics where I have been a) developing algorithmic approaches related to traffic management and motion coordination of hundreds of mobile robots, and b) performing data analysis and performance modeling of the part of the material handling system responsible for path planning and robot control.

During my career, I have been carrying out fundamental as well as applied research in robotics, motion planning, artificial intelligence for task planning, and machine learning. This included the development of risk-aware trajectory planning algorithms for unmanned surface vehicles to be robust against contingencies and motion uncertainty in environments with civilian traffic, algorithms for task and motion planning for multi-robot teams, and machine learning techniques for (semi-)automated synthesis of action selection policies for unmanned systems.

I spent more than 6 years as an Assistant Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). I was also an Affiliate Faculty Member of the Maryland Robotics Center. I worked with Prof. S.K. Gupta on developing motion planning and machine learning algorithms for robotic systems operating in complex, stochastic environments. These included unmanned surface vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, and Optical Tweezers.

Prior to that, I completed my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on robot motion planning at the Institute of Automation and Computer Science, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic. During my Ph.D. study, I did my research fellowship as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering, University of Bristol in the UK.

I started my preparation for interdisciplinary research in robotics by simultaneously studying Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology and Computer Science at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University in the Czech Republic.
