Good Luck boys

posted 4 May 2011 00:07 by Stephen Mullen

I would like to wish all the boys who played for Petershill all the best for their future, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to be associated with such a good group of young men, in a day and age of young people being slaughtered by people you were a great example to other people. There is no doubt every player has ability and a willingness to learn and I hope that you can fulfil your potential, keep working hard and pushing yourself and some of you can go on and have a career in football. I hope that you enjoyed your spell with Petershill and that you picked up some help and hints that improved your understanding of the game. Thanks to each and every one you for giving me so much enjoyment from watching all those great performances, beating Celtic, Rangers, Drumchapel, West Park, Strathven, all marvellous days and thoroughly deserved because of your efforts, anyway good luck and all the best. Stevie

Be proud of these boys

posted 10 Apr 2011 07:59 by Stephen Mullen

I cannot understand how proud you must be of these boys, whether a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother , sister or just a friend the sense of pride today must be overwhelming, I know how I feel toward it and I'm as proud today than if we had won the Scottish Cup. Today to come back from 2 down on the back of the last couple of results was a magnificent achievement and it comes down to the character of these kids. The hard work was back, helping each other was back, it was all there, so a big thank you to all 16 boys who were there today, it was brilliant. I also need to point out the hard work of both Richard and Jim, who contribute so much in the preparation of games and whose passion is second to none, thanks guys for your help. Tonight spoil the kids if you can spoil them any more. Well Done it was great.

Confidence Booster

posted 4 Apr 2011 05:23 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, we are suffering a few reversals just now in regards to the score-lines and I feel that it is affecting the confidence of the players. I do not believe for one minute that we have went from being a really good team to a really bad one. We are still the same group of players who were winning week after week, playing great football and being really disciplined and hard working. When the confidence goes so does the appetite for the game, we accept bad things in the play, we look for excuses (somebody else to blame), we don't want the ball, get rid of it straight away, don't make tackles, use excuses (I've got my man),it's perfectly normal behaviour, but we need to get back in shape and as quickly as possible, we can still make this a really successful season if we all stick together, get rid of the blame culture and help each other. It's also a time for everyone watching to get behind the boys and realise they are still learning, it's at this time they need our support and encouragement, they are still good players, we need to get behind them and let them know we believe in them.

Need to be Positive

posted 21 Mar 2011 03:55 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, sorry for the delay, I have needed the extra time to think of what is the best way to approach the rest of the season. I think that we have done exceptionally well so far, and there is no reason we can't continue to do well. My concern is that we seem to be accepting defeat without it really hurting the way that I would expect it too. The tempo of everything we do has dropped, all of a sudden we are looking for excuses, somebody else to blame, we need to turn up the performances in everything we do, training, games and the warm-ups, I personally don't want this season just to run its course, do you?

Well Done

posted 6 Mar 2011 14:52 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, well done today, to come back as well as we did after last week was a great. It sometimes takes time to overcome the disappointment, but credit to you, you came out with the right attitude from the start. We still need to play to instruction as its important to keep the shape of the team. We keep in another cup competition for the next round.
We also had some great news and some disappointing news in one go today, the great news is that CC has signed for Celtic, I know everyone associated with Petershill wishes him great success, he certainly has the potential to go all the way if he listens to his coaches and works hard, we all knew he would move on, the bad news is that he has decided that today was his last game for Petershill, the timing for us isn't great, but we need to move on. It is a marvellous achievement for our club to get someone signed by Celtic, and serves as a great incentive for the rest of our boys. If anybody knows a " good goalie" let Richard know.

Good run ended

posted 27 Feb 2011 10:50 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, thanks for the great effort over the run in the Scottish, it was a tremendous effort to do so well, and for getting as far as we did. My own belief is that over the two games, Tynecastle probably deserved to go through, but that doesn't minimise how well the boys have done. We are still developing as a team and as a club, there is still a lot of progress we can make. I firmly believe that the boys are getting tactically more aware, the first half display against a strong team, on a defensive side was brilliant, it obviously made it harder for the forwards, but the plan was to turn at least level and this was achieved, we defend from the front so everybody contributed to this. I think in the second half they were a bit stronger, which wasn't surprising taking into account their size and build. I still won't change the philosophy of our team, I don't care what size the boys are as long as they try their best. To sum up, it has been a great adventure and every player should be delighted with their contribution. We now move on and hopefully use this experience to our advantage. Well done guys.

Sunday Best

posted 20 Feb 2011 14:14 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, I don't really know how I feel tonight, I am really proud of you and all the great effort, but I feel we have came on so far, I'm quite disappointed that we didn't win. today we played the team who everybody told us were brilliant, well Petershill matched them all the way, we are without doubt one of the best under 14 team in Scotland, this isn't me making this up, the results speak for themselves. Well done to all the players today, that was a big test and we stood up to it.

A big thanks to the wonderful support, at a few quiet times today, the vocal support spurred the boys on, well done. It makes a great difference to get encouragement. So we have it all to do again next week.

Scottish Cup Tie

posted 16 Feb 2011 14:53 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, I hope everyone is looking forward to Sunday as much as me. It is something for us all to be proud of. The hard work has been done to get this far in the competition, we can really enjoy this occasion without any pressure on the boys. My attitude is always to encourage them and this is what we all must do on Sunday, they are playing fantastic just now, so we know the level that can be reached, and one thing we don't have any concerns with is their attitude. I feel going back to last week that this was the most professional performance since I got involved, the way they all listened to how and where to play and then carry it out belies their age. We will face a different challenge this week, but it is one that we should relish. These kids are a great example of how you can succeed with determination and belief in yourself and your team-mates, I wouldn't swap them for anybody, I'm really proud of them, the whole squad, you the parents must be bursting with pride, let's all stick together and see how far we can go.

Last 8, what an achievement

posted 12 Feb 2011 06:58 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, what an achievement this is, for a club that has only been in existence for the short period we have, this is a brilliant thing. All credit must go to the players for an absolutely fantastic performance against a very good and strong Strathaven side. I would like to thank them for the hospitality. I have tried to stress on many occasions about how we have a good squad and this was the proof today. The team today gave everything and all Richard's training sessions paid dividend. Jim (hopalong) also helped with his observations during the game, and the support from the side was fantastic. Thanks to all parents, grand-parents and fans for their fantastic support. To the people who came along like Danny and John and Sharon, thanks that's what it means to be part of a team.I couldn't be any prouder today, I feel it's a brilliant achievement, finally you'll be glad to know, EASY THE WEE PEASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Start

posted 16 Jan 2011 12:36 by Stephen Mullen

Hi guys, well done today, as it was a difficult game for both teams as we were coming out of winter hibernation. The last two training sessions and today were a vast improvement from the first couple of sessions when we came back. We need to start back really prepared for the games ahead, we don't have weeks to get in the groove, we need to hit the ground running. The fitness levels seem to be okay, which is good we just need to get match sharpness. We also played some guys in positions that were new to them, and they just played and got on with it, which is really encouraging. I hope everybody comes to training and puts in maximum effort, as we don't want any sick notes this week, it's  important that everybody comes and tries their best. We can have a great season for a new club, don't waste it by having fitness or attitude problems. It was good to see the support for the team from all their supporters, it really inspires them. Well done today, and let's all do our best for the rest of the season.
