Carole keeps it for herself!

"I am delighted to have bought a wonderful Fetique from Peter.  Originally the purchase was intended for my niece, but the bow is so lovely to play on that I have kept it for myself!  Peter's in depth knowledge of his collection was an unexpected bonus when I was trying his bows.  It was like being in a sweet shop - I wanted them all!"  Carole, Scottish violinist.

Miranda's miraculous Lamy

posted ‎‎Oct 30, 2009 9:50 AM‎‎ by Peter Hembrough   [ updated ‎‎Oct 30, 2009 10:03 AM‎‎ ]

"I have to say a big thank you for helping me find my lovely Lamy. Now I have a proper bow to play with rather than the tomato stick I had to use before - my violin really appreciates it (and now, so do my plants!)
But seriously though, I've learnt so much from you about the world of bows that I never really knew existed. It's only the tip of the iceberg for me, but perhaps now I can join the true path with other fellow fine bow seekers safe in the knowledge that if I get stuck along the way I'll know who to call." Even the best bows can't always hold the attention of a discerning audience. Here my beautiful Voirin leaves the critics divided in their appreciation.

"Thank you Peter for your knowledgeable and enthusiastic help.  I finally feel, with my new Sartory bow, that I am able to do my violin justice!  I would not have been able to afford such a fantastic bow if it were not for your help." Non - London player

"I couldn't have wished for a better service - knowledgeable service, understanding a musician's needs, warmth and enthusiasm.  And I ended up with two fantastic bows."
Alain with one of the best Jacob Eury bows known.

A rare and beautiful scroll

Sometimes you just have to stare, this scroll belongs to a fabulous 1710 Peter Guarneri of Mantua.  One of only fifty known examples that remain in existence.  Marrying fine French classic bows to such instruments is a real delight.

Further past customer comments : -

"In 1993 I bought a wonderful F.N. Voirin from Peter Hembrough Bows and it cost £2,300.  I recently had the bow valued and it is currently worth £8,000! Thank you for such a fine example."  - Carl, London based violinist and recitalist.

"In 1998 I was fortunate enough to buy a fabulous bow from the Menuhin collection, indeed one of his personal favourites.  I remain indebted to Peter Hembrough for his sage advice regarding this and other bow purchases." - Andrew, leader and freelance player.

"I have renewed enthusiasm and respect for my violin and bow thanks to you.  Your interest alone in the subject will bring success."  Name supplied.

"Peter has a wide range of interesting bows at competitive prices and his knowledge and obvious enthusiasm is infectious.  It was no surprise to learn that several London shops have bought stock that was once in this collection - only to become substantially more expensive.  It seems a no brainer to ignore such a good service for the busy player.  I was able to make an informed choice of bow after several chats and visits rather than a stab in the dark."  Lou - London based player.

"Many thanks for my wonderful Hill bow.  I am having a wonderful time getting to know how it works.  I am playing with renewed enthusiasm thanks to you!"  - Peter, National Theatre player.

"Thanks very much for introducing me to my new perfect bow!  And for being so patient with my dithering at every stage!"
- Fiona,London based player.

"I visited Peter in January of this year and enjoyed a relaxed day trying out the bows in the collection.  Buying from Peter was a very inspiring and educational experience.  I wasn't sure what to expect when I first visited him, but I found his knowledge and enthusiasm for his bows infectious and I feel proud of my bow.  I love playing with the bow and am really enjoying getting to know it.  I would never have been able to afford a bow of such good quality and with so much history attached to it without Peter's help." - Gill, London player

"Peter is a pleasure to deal with. As a fine violinist he has an exceptional feel for what works.  I am delighted with the Voirin that he found for me.  I would be happy to recommend him to any of my colleagues, and will most certainly be consulting him next time I am on the look out for a bow." - Simon Smith, international chamber musician and leader.

Becky admiring her new 1616 brothers Amati violin and a Peter Guarneri of Mantua, c.1710.  "I am delighted with my octagonal Sartory bow, such a joy to play on - thank you Peter for bringing us together".
I was particularly pleased to aid Becky in her purchase of such a sensational Amati brothers violin of 1616.  A tremendous violin with a full rich sound.
