Description
A classic bow from the golden period of bow making that combines many of the great lines of the bows of this time. Made of lovely dark pernambuco and very triangular towards the tip. The head resembles those of the great Dominique Peccatte. The bow dates from 1840 and as with many of this master's bows the back plate on the heel is in one piece. Another delightful detail is the two screws securing the underslide to the heel.
Playing Characteristics
This bow combines delicacy and strength beautifully and is a joy to use. It manages that rare feeling many players look for in that you can sense the contact with the string all the way down the bow through your fingers. At 57g it is ideal for those stressful moments in chamber orchestra rehearsals when one needs an ally in times of performing difficulty.
Condition
This bow is in mint condition with little wear considering its age. A beautiful example of a fairly rare maker of considerable talent.
