Fine Bows‎ > ‎

Eugene Sartory 58g - sold

Playing Characteristics

There is such a delightful ease of execution with this master bow, a wonderful example of his early output.  During this time he had students literally queueing up the stairs to his workshop in the hope of trying his latest bows.

Condition

This bow is splined (a preferable way of repairing a broken head) and there is slight damage to the button.  Otherwise it is in lovely condition.

£6000 sorry this great bow is sold

Description

A wonderful bow made in his late twenties circa 1900, also branded under the lapping as shown above.  This master bow maker's bows can be split into three periods, and this bow is from the end of his first period.  I am very fond of this period since he had not yet taken on other makers and so we know he made this bow in its entirety.  His model is that of an enlarged Voirin and is a fabulous concept from a playing point of view.  Towards the end of his second period his output, in my opinion, becomes less desirable from a playing point of view.
