Description

Perhaps my favourite type of Sartory, big boned and masculine in concept that draws out a large rich sumptuous sound.  Made from some of his best stock Pernambuco this is a Sartory from the premier league of his production. When looking through the best books on bow makers one often reads that Sartory's bows are very similar in concept.  Whilst in ways this is true I feel that many of his bows were commissions for players with specific requests and all the Sartory bows I sell are rather different when it comes to playing, whilst carrying a certain signature feel.

Without the small amount of damage this bow would probably break the £20,000 price bracket so a rare opportunity to buy a first class Sartory at a more realistic price.

Playing Characteristics

Tremendous! This bow falls into the category of bow that demands a dialogue with the player whilst they are playing.  It draws out a superb broad sound and just makes playing a true delight.  It never fails to amaze me how certain makers can produce bows that have such character, at the same time that character can vary widely even within one makers output.  This bow really is your archetypal fine Sartory and offers a tremendous sound world for the fine violinist, I would say especially so for a concert violinist or recitalist.

Condition

In general this stick is in fine condition, the heel is bold in concept and in a lovely state of preservation.  A top class bow.  The head has at some point suffered some slight damage it is however not of any great significance and is not visible.
