My name is Jon Pennington and I teach Spanish at the highscool and college level. I am part Cuban (my mother immigrated here from Cuba when Castro took control) and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC. Living with my Cuban grandparents when I was young, I learned to speak Spanish and English when I was only a baby. The language and culture are a part of me and I anticipate exploring them more and more each day. Being an adventurous soul, I have already planned my mission to visit each country which composes Latin America to get to know different people and places and learn from my experiences. I have already visited Guatemala, Belicé, Panamá, Costa Rica y México. And I just bought a plane ticket to Peru for a two week journey along the Incan Trail to Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. (Summer of 2009). As musician Manú Chao says, "La mejor escuela de la vida es poder viajar". (Video to the right) |
