The new hot tub and lounging deck!

View from The Birds' Nest Lakefront

Nestled among tall oaks and lush rhododendrons, this elegantly decorated, 2-bedroom home is conveniently located at 296 State Park Road for year-round accessibility. It is 0.6 miles from Deep Creek Lake State Park and approximately 6 miles from The Wisp Ski Area.

     Eat-in kitchen

The lakefront, across the road from the property, offers one of the best views of the lake - the sunsets and star-watching are magical!  You may swim or launch your kayak from here, though there is no dock facility.

Downstairs The Birds' Nest has a well-equipped kitchen, 1 bathroom, a living room with a Heatolator fireplace (firewood supplied), a study area with ethernet access for your laptop computer, and a bedroom (double bed). Upstairs is a large bedroom (queen size bed) with a sitting area overlooking the woods, a walk-in closet, a half-bath with washer and dryer, and a surprise nightlight! A flat screen television with satellite connection, a DVD/VCR player (with video library), and a CD player are located in the living room.

High quality bed linens and towels are supplied at no extra charge; bring your own toothbrush!

Relax in the new hot tub in a resort-like setting after a day of outdoor activities.

The deck offers a view of the lake and has a picnic table with a gas grill. There is a fire-ring outside The Birds' Nest for toasting marshmallows and telling tall tales!

Wild animals love this location and visit regularly. We do ask, however, that you do not feed the bears!

Our goal is to fulfill the need for a superior rental vacation home that is not a "McMansion"! The house is 900 sq. ft. of well-planned space with high quality furnishings. It sleeps 4 people; an additional 1, maybe 2, person(s) could sleep on the futon in the master bedroom, if desired.

(MAXIMUM NUMBER of guests (strictly enforced): 6 PEOPLE.

You will not be dealing with an agent so there are no unexpected fees, only the required 5% accommodation tax set by the local Garrett County Government and 6% Maryland State Sales Tax.

Although we are animal lovers, we apologize that we are unable to accept pets in The Birds' Nest.

To keep the air fresh and pleasant for everyone, we ask that guests refrain from smoking inside The Birds' Nest.

People with mobility problems may choose to look elsewhere since the spruce tree-bordered driveway, while beautiful, may be a little too steep for them.

                 The Birds' Nest in winter

Following are some comments left by visitors in the guest book:

What a wonderful weekend we had at The Birds’ Nest! You have thought of everything, and we enjoyed discovering each perfectly placed little treasure…….my personal favorite being the nightlight upstairs! While we were not able to enjoy the hot tub because of near zero degree temperatures, we look forward to coming back and indulging. The fireplace kept us nice and warm while we enjoyed our kid-free anniversary. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome and doing so much to make us comfortable here. Leaving the nest for now………

(Mandi and David)

Wow! We had no idea what we were in for when we left for The Birds' Nest for a Valentine's Day weekend! What a great find! A beautiful view, a hot tub, and a great location for skiing! We had a great time skiing, then warming ourselves up in the hot tub. We were going to go out to dinner both nights but we ended up staying in and cooking because your kitchen was so inviting. Thanks for the amazing stay and your gracious hospitality. We will be sure to recommend this place to our friends!

(Sara and Brian, Nicole and Brian)

We loved our weekend getaway. It was exactly what we needed! The Birds' Nest is so cozy and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and the hot tub after a long day of skiing.

Winter is beautiful here . We'd love to come back and see the lake in the summer. Thank you!

(Erin and Ramon, Hillary and Patrick)

We enjoyed our stay here at The Birds' Nest. I've been to the area quite a few times and have stayed in many different homes but this is my favorite. We found the home cozy, comfortable and very clean! You've thought of everything down to the smallest detail. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! We look forward to coming back.

(Chrissy and Shawn)

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Birds' Nest. It was wonderful to get away from the city and the peace and tranquility was just what we needed! We walked in the State Park, relaxed in the hot tub and especially enjoyed our bonfire by the lake on Friday evening! We saw deer outside the window on Saturday morning and in all had a great relaxing weekend.

(Colin and Alexandra)

What a perfect way to spend a weekend. Not only did we have a chance to relax in the hot tub on a cool night, cook burgers and corn on the grill, and enjoy the sun on the "beach", but my husband discovered his next favorite diversion - birdwatching. We were enchanted by the dozens of hummingbirds that came by each day! Thank you for this chance to recharge and remember God's beautiful creation. We are already planning our next weekend here in Deep Creek.

(David and Andrea)

We thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful week in this lovely "nest". The noise of city traffic was replaced by the hum of motorcraft and the singing of birds. Each day brought new discoveries and new adventures (but no bears - and that is okay with us.)

We enjoyed all the pieces of art and decorative pieces in the house - down to the bird house shower hooks for the curtain! Such attention to detail!

Thank you for providing such a lovely place in this beautiful part of the country.

(Wayne and Phyllis)

What a respite from our rat race! We've had a wonderful, recuperative, restful week in a cozy setting. You have outfitted a lovely guest home.

Our personal favorite has been the deck with a view where we spent hours reading and eating. We used the grill - even more than once a day - and discovered you can cook anything on a grill. Try skewered peach slices - YUM!

We also appreciated the view from the desk work space. If one has to telecommute, it's great to look up from the screen to see the lake through the trees.

Thank you for your attention to comfort and detail. We plan to return.

(Pat and Dave)

Thank you so much for everything. It was so relaxing and peaceful here. I loved having the water so close that we could walk down in the morning or at night and I loved being able to see it from the kitchen. Thank you so much for the wine and chocolate and thank you for the wonderful collection of movies for evening relaxation. This is exactly what I had been wanting for our post-wedding, de-stressing getaway! I hope we can come back sometime.

(Debby and Ross)
