                                                 About the Artist                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Mary Schenck has lived, worked and painted horses for over 30 years. The nuances and exactness of equine anatomy are as familiar to her as are her brushes and pencils, and every line that forms this very talented artist's equine work comes from an embodied understanding of her subject that cannot be learned in schoolbooks. Her rich experience with horses of all breeds, and her attention to detail as a master horse trainer has flowed  naturally into her drawings and paintings of the horse.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

                        Painting in watercolor, pastel and oils, Schenck has been developing her skills as a landscape artist over the last few years. Why landscapes, you may wonder? This will inevitably serve her love of the equine figure that is her chosen subject; as background and atmospheric staging to enhance her already stunning grasp of equine anatomy.
