Stiwdio Peligriff features hand-braided dog leads and collars made from parachute cord, also known as paracord. Established in 2009, the studio offers a current palette of the following colors:
Black Charcoal gray Silver gray NEW! White Desert tan Tan Coyote Brown Gold Chocolate Walnut
|
Rose Pink Neon pink Safety pink Burgundy Imperial red Rust
|
Solar orange Neon orange Goldenrod NEW! Yellow Neon yellow
|
Neon green Acid olive drab Kelly green Emerald green
|
Acid teal Turquoise Neon turquoise Colonial blue Royal blue Navy blue Electric blue Purple
|
Colors come in two distinct types, solid, or flat, colors and "acid" colors. Acid colors (which are underlined above) are those which have a luminous quality with various but subtle shades of the color, as if they had been "acid washed".
Items using any of the above colors can usually be completed within four weeks. Other colors may be available on special request, and will require 6-8 weeks to complete the item. If you find a color or see one online that is not listed above, please email and ask.
The ends of all leads are spliced back into the braid at the handle and the ends fixed in place with super glue. Handle lengths are a standard 6" but a custom size can be requested. Colors can be braided right spiral, left spiral, or stripe (also known as "diamond").

Here is a slip lead made for a bloodhound exhibitor in North Carolina, in spiraling blue and green. The sliding keeper is a doubled Turk's Head knot, and a lanyard knot decorates the point where the cord attaches to the ring.
At the right is a clip lead and matching martingale for a Pembroke Welsh corgi exhibitor in South Carolina. The collar utilizes two D rings and a 4-strand flat braid as a draw with an O ring attached.
The imagination is the only limitation. I can braid 1-4 colors, although three requires one color be doubled. The following are examples of tri-color gear:
This lead uses white as the base color (2 strands) and blue & green as complementing colors in a spiral pattern. The tripled Turk's Head uses blue with a strand of green in the middle.
The inspiration for this color combination was the Stewart tartan, with the predominant red and blue/green accents. This was braided as a stripe pattern.
