2010 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition
PEGERIC is one of the smallest wine producers in Australia . Due to our small production , we are only eligible to enter a few wine shows. We have won 2 TROPHIES , and multi GOLD , SILVER and BRONZE medals at Australian and International wine shows .
In 2007 , we began to enter wines in International wine shows so we could compare our wines with the top wines in the world . We had immediate success ! At the 2007 Japan Wine Challenge , 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won a GOLD. It was one of only 15 Australian wines to win a GOLD medal in this highly rated competition and was amongst 1700 wines from 22 countries trying to win a medal . Only 108 GOLD medals were awarded in total and the 1999 PEGERIC was the oldest red wine in the world to win a GOLD medal ! Also in 2007 , both the 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir and the 1998 TUMBETIN Cabernet Shiraz Pinot blend won SILVER medals at another prestigous International wine show - The 2007 Shanghai International Wine Competition . The 1998 TUMBETIN was also the oldest red wine in the world to win a medal at the show.
In 2010 , at the 2010 Japan Wine Challenge , the 2003 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won a SEAL OF APPROVAL , which is an award that " recognizes regional style and drinkability " .
At the 2010 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition , both the 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir and the 1998 TUMBETIN Cabernet Shiraz Pinot blend won SILVER medals , while the 2000 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won BRONZE. In the same Competition , both the 1999 and 2000 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won awards in the Best Wines with Asian Dishes categories.
The 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir was ranked the Best Australian wine with Braised Abalone .
The 2000 PEGERIC was ranked the Equal Best Australian wine with Dim Sum .
In 2011 , the 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir has been awarded medals in London , Japan and Shanghai , while 1998 TUMBETIN Cabernet Shiraz Pinot blend has won SILVER in Shanghai .
Now both have won awards in Hong Kong .The 2011 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition is the greatest achievement yet .
PEGERIC won an amazing 1 TROPHY 1 GOLD 2 SILVER and 5 BRONZE medals !
Most of these awards were in the Wine with Food judgeing . One of our wines , 2003 PEGERIC
Pinot Noir won awards in both The Peking Duck and Braised Abalone matching classes !
The 2008 PEGERIC Pinot Noir Late Picked Sweet Style was awarded a SILVER medal in the Best Wines With Kung Pao Chicken and was the highest ranked Pinot Noir in the world in this category !Our wines dominated the Best Wines With Asian Dishes - Braised Abalone category , with 3 of our wines winning medals in this class !
The 2003 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won a BRONZE . The 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir won a SILVER medal - repeating its 2010 success in this category which ranked the 1999 PEGERIC Pinot Noir as the Best Australian wine with Braised Abalone . Unfortunately , the 1999 PEGERIC had to give up that honour to another Australian wine in 2011 . The good news was that we also made that !
Our 2002 Escargot Barbera won the TROPHY and a GOLD medal !!
So now we can claim to make
