France v Rep. of Ireland

France 0-0 Rep. of Ireland - October 9th 2004 - Stade de France, Paris

It was estimated that between 35,000 and 40,000 Ireland fans made their way to Paris for this game. Their presence was certainly evident in the staduim, as we looked to cause an upset.

A bright start with some very postive attacking play, had the French on the back foot. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of our threat when Clinton Morrison hobbled off injured.

Some great saves from Shay Given and a glaring miss from John O'Shea meant that the score stayed at 0-0.

A point away to France and a good performance left us with a very positive outlook for the rest of the campaign.
