Peacham Library is part of the Green Mountain Library Consortium.  As a member we are able to provide access to downloadable audio books for all our patrons!  You can check out two books at a time, each for seven days.  Ready to get started?  Here are the simple directions.

 

1. Go to www.listenupvermont.org to get started.
2. Click on "sign in" in the menu bar just below the Green Mountain Library Consortium logo.
3. Select our library from the list and then enter your patron number.
4. Type a title into the Search box (upper right hand corner), or browse the available titles by clicking on the genre links on the left side.
5. When you find a title you'd like to listen to, look in the lower right hand corner of the description to see if it is available.  If it says "add to basket" the book is available.  Otherwise, if it says "join waiting list," you'll need to wait a while for the book to become available.
6. Add a book to your basket by clicking on "add to basket."
7. When you have selected your book(s), click on "Proceed to Checkout."
8. Click on "Confirm Checkout."
9. If you have not previously downloaded books with our system, you will need to download the Overdrive software.  There is a link right there as you are ready to checkout your books.  Alternatively, you can click on the "Overdrive Media Console" link in the bottom right of the screen.  Just follow the directions to setup up the software and update your Windows Media player.
10. Click on "Download."  This will open up the Overdrive software and begin the download process.  You can select to download all parts or only some parts of a book at a time. You can always come back within your checkout week to download the remaining parts.
11. Once the book is downloaded, you can listen to it with the Overdrive software, or, transfer it to your MP3 player (and iPods soon!) and, in some cases, to CDs.
     
12. No need to "return" these books, the "digital rights management" license expires after seven days and the books will no longer play.   
13. As always, if you have any questions or need help, just ask a Co-Director or a Saturday Assistant.
14. If you don't have a computer of your own, or have a slow dial-up connection, you can come into the Library to download books.  We have the software setup on our computers for you to use!
